Case Study:

GUY’S HOSPITAL

Chiller supply/ rebuild

The Issue

Swegon were approached to provide the cooling requirements serving the Main Theatre, situated in the Borough Wing, at the iconic Guy's Hospital, London.

This project posed a logistical challenge as there was no opportunity to provide a chiller unit in one piece due to the restrictions applied by the final location requirements.

SPECIFICATION:

• Advised Cooling Load 66 kW
• Cooling Supply Temperature 6 °C
• Cooling Return Temperature 12 °C
• Max. Summer Ambient Temperature 35 °C
• Media (Glycol. % of Water Solution) 20 %
• Unit Siting External

CHILLER UNIT SELECTION - 1 No. ZETA ECHOS 7.2 Air Cooled Chiller

The Solution

To provide chiller as a flat pack kit of parts in wooden crates. Swegon engineers to attend site to assemble, test and commission the chiller only. Chiller testing and commissioning will be completed during a secondary visit after assembly when the mechanical and electrical services have been connected to the chiller by others.

Outcomes

Working closely with our factory in Italy, we were able to “flat pack” the chiller following the factory tests, which was then delivered to be re-built in-situ on site.
