Cooling Solution

The Issue

Our cooling team was approached by a client, who were keen to upgrade their cooling system to accommodate for a major increase in production on their site in Wales. The existing chiller had already undergone a number of repairs, each requiring costly parts due its age. Therefore it was decided the system needed replacing to be able to cope with future demand.

As part of the new facility, a supply of chilled water was required in a central tank which in turn distributed cooling across the process machines. The process produces plastic components for the automotive industry and it is critical that the water to process remains at 20C to prevent loss in product quality.

Additionally, the site was keen to move towards energy saving solutions such as EC fans and free cooling to move towards greener manufacturing targets.

The Solution

Our team of experienced project managers and engineers fully surveyed the site and suggested the following be installed:

1 x Tetris FC Basic 20.3 with EC fans. The return of investment in the free cooling uplift is calculated at 8 months, with annual power savings with Tetris FC chiller approx. £18,000 per annum.

1 x 67 plate heat exchanger

Pipework installation.

The client was happy as there was very minimal downtime and their facility now has a new modern, effective and energy-efficient cooling solution.
